What do you mean you were never charged? If you mean paid then you get played on a NET 60 timescale.

The dashboard analytics can be a little off / not update correctly. For analytics, it is always best to use YouTube own analytics as it is the most accurate.

Whenever I am feeling burnt out I put 2 days aside and record a load of vids, this lets me schedule them 1 per day and then I get a week off from making videos without neglecting the channel :)

Thumbnails should never be more important that the video itself. YouTube rewards watch time and not view count. At any rate, well done.
