Never heard of it, what's it about? Doing tips and tricks can be a great idea for videos though as they tend to have a high search rate :)

I think the main reason most people don't make it big, is from doing content that has already been done by larger channel. Making new content is easier said than done though... Also there is nothing wrong with having a smaller channel and enjoying what you do, unless you have over 50-100k subs...

If you want to I'd say do something very small, even then I'm sure people would be very appreciative. Just make sure you are using the giveaway to celebrate and not just as a way to gain views or subscribers.

You might need to just get lucky in a video and upload one that gets popular on search. Find out which videos are gaining more views and keep working on ways to try and improve your content.

Does being Admin count? :D I think it's always going to be more difficult finding work from home because if it were easy everyone would be doing it. Stuff like web development/IT you could probably do at home but you would need experience in that area...

Unfortunately YouTube makes it quite hard to be seen if you are a newer channel. Just keep building up your views and it becomes easier to gain more views from that.

Some forums sections don't count, like "fun and games" and "promote yourself". Looks like you have reached above 5 now anyway :)
