I'd tell people to starting warming up your voice before making videos. People start to get much more energetic when the blood gets flowing. Having a monotone voice can be disastrous for anyone involved. Recording in bulk, and spacing it out for the week never hurt either!

  • Have patience. You won't get a million subscribers in a night.
  • Don't let your ego get in the way. Listen to others. They might have good suggestions on how to make your channel better!
  • Keep on learning. Never stop. There is always room for improvement.
  • Make friends! Collaborate.
  • Make time for yourself. Don't let your life get engulfed in just recording/rendering/uploading/YouTube. Keep the friends you HAVE.
    • This also keeps you from becoming too burned out with YouTube. I've made that mistake. Take breaks when you need it but all the while creating a consistent schedule.

Make videos that haven't been made before. Although that's not always easy with the amount of content out there.
No doubt, we need to offer something different, compared to everyone else. That's why people wonder why their own "Let's Plays", don't get any traction.

And seriously, I've seen many people that get impatient that they aren't an overnight success. Ego ruins a lot of people too, since they feel that they're better than others at times. When someone tells me they honestly can't improve on a single attribute, it's impossible  Definitely taking breaks will help people relax more in the end. The average shelf life for a youtuber isn't that long when things aren't going their way.

Let's see
1Be ready for lots of failure and ups and downs within the first week XD
2.DO NOT GIVE UP
3.Sometimes the recorder and editor will not work sometimes you just have to find the perfect one that works for your computer or for you personally.
4. Sometimes recording a video will not go your way could happen 100 times (happened to me -_-) do not get discouraged and throw in the towel.
5. Do not be scared to ask for help.
6.Have fun isn't this supposed to be :D
7.Be yourself unless the part has you acting :D
8.Think of all the greatest minds and famous people who failed 99 times then 100th time they got it :D.

1. Watch your videos back after you fully edited a video before you render to ensure your sound is correctly adjusted.
2. Figure out when (time wise) you get the most views and try to schedule uploads for around then. (For example, my best time is 2am CST)
3. Follow your analytics closely, they are helpful!
4. If you are like me, and have issues trying to speak, write it down on paper but read it like you're talking in your Youtube Voice
5. Patience is key to success
6. Listen to others critiques. Just because you think you have the BEST video uploaded, doesn't mean you do.

Hah, way to add in a ton of tips! People are going to scronge to find anything else to write, nice additions erratic ^^

Nobody, or at the very least, many people don't succeed their first few weeks alone. Giving up is the end, and that's that. We can all continue on for as long as we can, or want to ^^ Messing around with various recording programs will be strenuous at first, but it pays off. Some videos will have to be scrapped, sadly enough. Asking for help should be a given! Having fun should be the top priority, in any place in life. We could be near the finish line, and we'd never know :p

Double checking your videos should be mandatory! Finding out a consistent schedule always helps too. Analytics can give more information about what's working, and who's following you. Writing a script can help tremendously ^^ Patience is a virtue. And always, continue to strive improving ^^

I'd give the the advise;
1. Be a leader
2. Be yourself and never fake
3. Upload whatever you want
4. Make each video unique to you
5. Have fun and don't worry about the numbers

A leader? Inspiring others perhaps, I don't see many leaders on youtube, they might be likable though :p People need to understand too, that if they upload specific content, they should be aware of the subject matter. Doing a let's play on an old game with no traffic, can be hard to work. Have great fun too though!
  • Make use of video related tags.
  • Custom thumbnails
  • Check your mic for noise
  • Make a clear and informative video description.
  • Organize your video's in playlists
Tags are often neglected more than anything else. Thumbnails take effort when they're starting out, hopefully people learn how to make them easier ^^ Microphones should be tested before every recording. Description will give a lot more information, and playlists are for ease of watching ^^

When I say leader, its more be yourself instead of following others. That is what I was thinking on that one. I agree with you 100% though brother

Overall, I feel like we gathered a lot of tips where people can benefit from. In the future, with other respondents, compiling a self-help guide would be awesome ^^
