ok well my account is a youtube partner and though i have signed up for freedom and got accepted, my main channel still shows inactive in the settings...
what am i supposed to do here?

First make sure you have no copyright strikes on your channel and that you have FanFunding disabled on your YouTube dashboard as these will stop you from getting the invite.
Once you have done this you need to visit the new Freedom support website and register if you haven’t already. Then just simply click “Create A New Case” and choose “Invitations” from the ticket type menu and then in the message box just ask if they can send you an invite to your YouTube dashboard so you can join the Network https://freedom.desk.com

It can also take up to 24-48 hours to be approved on Freedom's side completely. I know we still have some partners going through that process.

Go to your Creator Studio and see if you see the 'Freedom Invitation' there. If it's not there, yea - help desk should help out. You can contact me at Support at hitstart dot com and i'll do what i can as well if it comes to it.
