Why does my high end computer record poorly?

I have a pretty high end computer. I can play most games at high FPS, but lately on games that aren't very graphically challenging I can not seem to record them at 60FPS I'm using Dxtory right now and games like subnautica and wick are proving to be impossible to record 60 fps with ok graphics

I'd recommend trying, Fraps, or Nvidia Geforce Experiance(ShadowPlay) for Nvidia GPU's or AMD Raptr for AMD GPU's. Only use Fraps if you want the most RAW footage of gameplay... but It's not recommended unless you have it set to record on a 1TB+ Storage Drive.

I've never used Dxtory to be honest, but I'd recommend a switch to something more easier to use, or something that is willing to be easy on your FPS when you Record.

Best Of Luck!

Thanks for the reply. I use ShadowPlay, but it doesn't support all the games I want it too. Like Subnautica; it only supports certain games. I was gonna try bandicam, but it's weird because obs and Dxtory both struggle to record the correct amount of frames.

If you have trouble with many games not recording, I'd recommend Xsplit or Fraps, Fraps will record the desktop alone if you really wanted it to.

Best Of Luck!

I've had no issues with recording 60 fps with OBS.

FRAPS is a load of **** and I don't know anyone who has ever used it.
If your really having a hard time record with NVIDA Shadowplay then set it to "Desktop Record" mode and see how that works out for you.
If not, then use OBS.
I use Shadowplay and Dxtory.

I just tried the desktop record and I think this did the trick for me. It seems to record the games at 60 FPS with dropping[DOUBLEPOST=1451074842][/DOUBLEPOST]

I think it's 60fps the only issue is it doesn't look very good. I'm not sure why :/. could you post your settings?

I always use desktop record but only capture footage, ten minutes a time because Shadowplay has this weird audio dsync bug that occurs over extended periods of recording.

I know how you can fix the audio desync. I had this issue with my 30min let's plays of fran bow. There's a program called handbrake. If you run your video through this and set audio to 192 and the frames to constant at 60 fps it'll fix the desync.

I have heard of that fix but would rather not run my video file through another program, it's easier for me to just move the audio on the timeline till it matches with the video.

These are my settings, the bitrate doesn't really matter though. I just like seeing all the 00000s.

Lol you know lots of people who use Fraps here on the forum... lol...

Sorry to the original poster...
I don't use dxtory
I use Fraps, Shadowplay, and xsplit

Have you tried pressing ctrl+alt+delete and bringing up the task manager to see if you are maxing out your system resources...

Recording does tend to eat system resources.

You may have some junk ware or whatever running in the background or whatever. I always recommend a program called Super Anti Spyware for cleaning everything from viruses to Spyware. .. it's free to use...

Another thing to make sure you are not recording on the same hard drive that is running Windows or the game. .. cause that can cause problems too
