I watched George's video about relative audience retention rate. He got 36% and he was jumping up and down like a monkey just found a banana. Is 36% that good to jump up and down?

Which percentage should I aim for?

36% was his absolute retention not his relative retention.

Relative Retention ranks individual parts of the video in relation to it's peers as High/Above Average/Average/Below Average/Low.

A good Relative Retention is a video that doesn't dip below average and is consistently in the above to high range.

Absolute Retention is trickier to talk about because it all depends on how long the video is. The longer the video is the lower you can expect the absolute retention to be usually.

so is 36% absolute retention good?

Like I said it depends on the video length. I'm not sure any of us are really rocket scientists about it. When it comes to that specific video with the 36% retention however he was above average for 1:45 of the 6 minutes of that video and below average for the rest. So based off that it would seem that 36% absolute retention on a 6 minute video is NOT good.
