Sony Computer Entertainment America as many may or may not know attempted to trademark the term Let's Plays in October. Thankfully the United States Patent And Trademark Office refused due to the existing trademark LP Let's Play and the similarity between the two.
Important notes of the official ruling from the USPTO reads as follows.
"Registrant's services are 'Entertainment services, namely to provide online and offline opportunities for video game enthusiasts to meet and participate in live video game tournaments and on-demand console gaming.' Applicant's services are 'Electronic transmission and streaming of video games via global and local computer networks; streaming of audio, visual, and audiovisual material via global and local computer networks'"
Sony has 6 months to appeal.
