So this is something I only fund out today, but its a really important and I recommend setting it up right away on and Desktop or Laptop that may have.
Essentially there is a major flaw in Windows OS which allows someone to pretty much get administrator rights and do anything they want without needing your user password to do it (Fun to pull a prank on a friend who may not know this
).
This video below explains it well.
The best way to stop people from doing this to you really is setup a BIOS password, pretty much all of them have this option but it essentially stops people from accessing the BIOS or Boot options who don't know the password you set. Just restart your computer, enter the BIOS and look for administrator password or something similar (its normally under security of BIOS Features e.t.c). From there just set a password up (some limit how long it can be), and done. Just save and restart, now when trying to access any BIOS feature it should ask for a password.
Note: Some motherboards make it have a setup mode or system, set it to setup otherwise you'll have to enter this password just to boot your system.
Obviously this won't guarantee your system won't be accessible still but its a good extra measure to have in place none to less.
