You know that thing that they say, you make a video about something that is current, and be on the foot of the trend, and you'll get views. Well, it's true.
Last night, I uploaded a video which I will leave unlinked and not mentioned by name. Being the first time I've uploaded in three weeks, I had not expected much to come of it. However, I was definitely surprised when it almost instantly started gaining views. Not just a few or two per hour, no, I'm talking 41 views on it's first full hour on the internet (according to YT realtime). It didn't stop after one hour either. It kept going, and is currently averaging 35 views per hour.
[The current hour is going to bump that up, trend expects a record high 62 views by the end of the hour]
Here's the images of the difference in success between my regular view splatter, and what this video produces.
So, due to the topic of this video being something that hasn't been discussed 1000 times directly already. In fact, one of the tags I used brings up only 590 results.
That brings up tags. No tags, no success. This applies to topical and non-topical videos. You need to have good, effective tags in order to have your videos show up anywhere near the top page.
The point is, if something is blowing up right then and there, you can pump out a video really quick and see decent success on it's content. I spent just 40 minutes making and uploading this video and look at the net success!
However, I cannot recommend doing this if you have yet to make a real opinion on the topic. This just so happened to be something I was personally involved with and decided to quickly make a video about.
