Hello guys, I am from Hong Kong and I am new to this forum.

Actually I would like to make some gameplay videos on Youtube but since I prefer using Cantonese as my mother language, will it be possible for the audience from western countries to watch them if I include english subtitles in the videos?

Finding somebody from Hong Kong is rare on here ^^ Gameplay videos are nice, but what style of content are you looking to upload? It depends on the audience, because let's plays are harder to read, since people enjoy watching videos. Are you planning on uploading edited content? They may be interested. Well thanks for the reply! Actually I would like to share the gameplay of different games with a blind playthrough with commentary which is quite similar with many youtubers. However, as I know many Hong Kong youtubers do not include any english subtitles for people from western countries so they may not be able to understand what is saying in the videos and so give up watching them. As english is the global language for most countries so it is not a big deal for different people understanding what the youtubers are saying but it is not the case in Cantonese.

Just like games in Japan, normally we cannot understand the voices in the game so subtitles become very useful.

My concern is if you guys from different countries will have a tendency to watch gameplay videos spoken in Cantonese (or other unfamiliar language) with english subtitle? Will you feel enjoyable even if you don't know what they are saying?

My English is not good sorry if any inconvenience created.

Hello HKman ! Yes it would be a good idea to do this with the subtitles! It will take to you more time but will help and other people to watch your videos!!!
