Hi! Firstly, welcome to the Freedom Family! To answer some of your questions, under your Creator Studio on YouTube, go to Channel and then status and features. It will say "Network Freedom." No, the monetization symbol does not change.
Please tell us more about your channel.

It doesn't matter if you're managed or affiliated, if you don't have licensing to the content you're monetizing, you can't monetize it. So for an example, if you want to monetize a video with gameplay from an EA game, you will get in trouble because EA doesn't give commercial licenses to Freedom! Partners.

With games, the best bet is to check the game devlopers/ publishers website to see if there allow monetization of their games.
A quick google search normally comes up with the answer strieght away for example search into google "does bethesda allow monetization" and the first thing that comes up is a link to there policy.

Also if you use music in your videos for example if you use 2 steps to hell music without a license from them, then you will get a copyright claim or even get a strike.

Please note Networks don't exactly hold licenses to allow you to use footage which you recorded from games. You MUST make sure yourself that the developers/ Publishers allow you to upload and monetise your footage. Though some networks do work with with game developers/ publishers to allow partners to upload footage, I not exactly sure what Freedom! standpoint is on this.

But a good example of this is when I had to ask for a license from SEGA to allow me to monetise my Rome Total War footage, I had to write a whole email explaining what I wanted to do with the footage and etc...

Lastly if you play on games and have music enabled ensure the game is using it's own Soundtrack as some games use music from a 3rd party which is licensed to the game devlopers by the third party. But this means you may not be able to use it as it is not licensed to you. A good example of this is GTA V, if you record GTA V and have the radio enabled while recording you can get a copyright claim form the company/ person who own the music. This is because Rockstar is licensed to use it but YOU are not.

Basically the story is, it is up to you to ensure you can use to the content in the videos so you don't get the copyright claims.

As far I know all the infomation in the post is correct, but if anyone wants to point out anything I messed up or missed feel free.

Cheers
Liam
P.S Welcome to Freedom!

Please note the claim might be for the whole video but YouTube has only highlited a time, I been told it can sometimes do that, but can't really prove it.

After a little research I found out the following for any Activision games (Basically any cod games).

Activision has never really said anything about YouTube and/or any other streaming services (Like twitch.tv). But I read Black Ops 3 EULA and it states:

YOU SHALL NOT:
  • Exploit this Program or any of its parts commercially, including but not limited to use at a cyber cafe, computer gaming center or any other location-based site. Activision may offer a separate Site License Agreement to permit you to make this Program available for commercial use.
This could be them basically saying no to do with anything commercially, this also means YouTube. This next but is from the games Terms and Conditions.

YOU SHALL NOT:

  • "Exploit this Program or any of its parts commercially"
  • "create derivative works of this Program, in whole or in part"

But like there said there never really have said anything about YouTube or other Streaming services but I have heard of a few people getting copyright claims from them.

I also found this site, that tells you what publishers say yes, what say no and the ones who just don't want to comment about the situation (Please note this website does not have up to date infomation and some publishers may of change there policy since the date of the publication of this article, also do extra research and keep up to date on polices): http://www.gameinformer.com/b/featu...ube-monetization-and-copyright-right-now.aspx

I am hoping this will help you, please also feel free to PM me if you need any more help.
