How do you pick the people you collab with?

  • I try to find people around my age. I think 20+ is a good age limit for me. Anyone any younger, I feel like there just won't be that much in common with.
  • I think having a good chemistry, overall. I'm a pretty laid back person so it's easy for me to get along with people, but I have it there just in case it's needed.
  • Someone's who is okay with making plans and having to cancel at some points 'cause I'm very busy. Some days I have a lot of commissions with artwork, other days I'm recording my games to make sure I have enough for my channel.

I've never done a collab but if I were to do one it would have to be someone that I watch on youtube and enjoy their content.
Researching someone is a great way to figure out if you'd enjoy working with them. I feel like people sacrifice quality for the people they're with, for a quantity of videos. Everything might be a bit too casual, and everyone's opinions on this matter is helping a lot. Thanks for the input Koala ^^

Oh, that's something I haven't considered, the age gap. When I was younger, I worked with a variety of people. Young people get offended when you deny them based on age alone, and someone straight up said I was racist for doing so, granted ageist would have been more correct :p Honestly, the older somebody is, it's more likely they have everything put together, but people have surprised me before, it's hard to just wing it instead.

Chemistry is always great to have, if two people have a great relationship/rapport, the video turns out better overall. It's hard to not enjoy yourself if it's somebody you're used to ^^

Schedule conflicts definitely happen as well. Thanks again for your input Enmoshin, I'll compile all these lists later ^^

I only collab with those i know and the rare times that it happen was with my own wife or a friend i know for more then 5 years. Collabing with someone from the forums just isn't my thing as you don't know what to expect from the person...
That's understandable. People have a close knit of friends they enjoy working with. The forums can be hard to form relationships when you have no idea what to expect from others. Sometimes it's good to take a chance, but everyone is made differently ^^

Yea. The age gap thing kind of sucks, 'cause I don't want it to be there, but sometimes the maturity level of some people isn't quite there. I was more mature when I was younger, so I got along with older people easier, and I think I would make exceptions for that, but I think it's rare that we run into people like that nowadays.

But if young people get offended because we're "ageist" then perhaps that's something to consider. You can't accept that it's not meant to be without bowing out gracefully probably means you're not quite mature enough to handle the big kids.

And of course, age is just one of the factors. I'm sure there are some people my age that I wouldn't be able to get along with, because like what I said earlier in my other criteria, the chemistry might not be there.

I'm an avid supporter of working with a variety of people. Granted, I'd love to work with someone seasoned, and akin to my own tastes. I feel that older people are calmer, easier to deal with, and are more consistent with what they say. Younger people are more random, and they are more spontaneous at times. I know I'm generalizing here because everyone is different, but I need someone calm to offset my hyperactivity during recordings, heh.

Everyone wants to prove themselves, even if you tell them they might not be the best fit. Of course we could struggle to find the point where we blend into the other person well. It's a time-consuming process, and risky. Whether it pays off it totally random, hah. It's insane how much people can differ

Yeah, everyone has their own comfort zone, or compatibility they're looking for. If we find someone we click with, hang on to them for dear life!

Exactly! I can collab with someone from the forums though. But for me to do that i first want to get to know the person and must be around the same age. As i'm 25 i don't see myself making a vid with a 13 year old :p

Hah, it'd make for some interesting commentary. There should be more segments where there's an adult being paired with an inexperienced kid. Damn, I smell some new segments coming in the future ^^

Skip all you want, people have free will to do anything they desire \o/ If only we could choose to be successful with a click of a button, that'd be awesome :p
Well i'm not the type to pick the easy way when it comes to succes. The feeling of gaining respect for your hard work is something great wich comes with motivation, dedication and hard work.

The easy way? There's a lot of ways that can be considered easy. Having help to make videos based on different ideas can work out amazing, and offer a lot of new variety ^^ Respect can come in many forms too, granted some professions will be looked upon more than others.
