I currently make review videos, and I just worked all day on an AT2020 review. I only have 37 subscribers, so without much advertising, that video won't gain many views, if any. So, how do you guys advertise your channel, without spamming? Reddit used to be a good source, until recently, and now, even if I post to a relevant subreddit, I get instant thumbs down on my video. I just feel like if more people saw my videos, I would grow my fan base quicker.

If you're getting thumbed down in the subreddit, then it's probably for a valid reason. I've had mixed results with reddit, and the good results are when my videos are pretty much flawless, informative, and engaging. You might want to get some feedback on your content before submitting it to reddit in the future.

Other than reddit, I don't advertise my content (though I do have it set to automatically tweet the link when it's published, as I have a small following on twitter that are mainly my YT subs as well). I find self advertising hard to do without being tacky and obnoxious.

You barely have a channel, I'd focus on creating content for a few months before really putting yourself out there. Get a few dozen videos up so people know you're in this for the long haul. It's hard to convince people to sub to a channel with very little content.

I've seen even really good videos still get downvoted in some subs. I think that reddit is just real sensitive, especially to smaller channels.

A lot of subreddits don't like video posts, especially LPs will get bad results there. Try posting a picture or gif and you might find better results with that.

Also as Phil said don't worry too much about views to start with, just make the best content you can and have fun with it :)

Worry too much about how successful the content is going to be when it's uploaded will limit it's success after you finish uploading it.
Why? It's all about dedication and time to your content regardless of type. Advertising it about and worrying about where to advertise it (or how) is just going to distract from time that you could spend making more and better content.
[Note: I rather intensely advocate against the use of third party forums and reddit for video advertising. You are free to ignore my opinion]

The videos you do have are well done. One way I found that works for me to advertise is using my twitch livestream, but there is another way I have thought about just have not really tried yet. You can try talking with other youtube creators and see if they will give one of your videos a shoutout if you do the same for them. Other wise just use good tags in your videos and keep up the good quality and you will grow.

I post Unity Game Development tutorials. I share my content on social media. Pretty much only Twitter and Facebook.
On Twitter, there are bots that will retweet your tweet if the tweet contains a hashtag that they respond to. In my case, it's tags like #unity3d #gamedev #igdev #slothdev, etc. These bots usually have followers in the 1000s. So when they retweet you, your content's gonna get advertised well. Next, Facebook.
On Facebook, I first share on the official Demkeys page. Then I post on my wall. Then, I start posting in Game Development groups that I have joined on Facebook (that's about 50-60 groups, though I usually end up posting in only 30). These groups have members anywhere between 500 to 30,000+. Some people from those group share my videos as well.
That's how I advertise my content.

Best solution is to be social. Sure you can post a video on twitter and facebook hoping for it to get noticed but the key is socialize. Get to know people, expand your network and grow your knowledge ;)

I just post it on Facebook and link it to a few Facebook groups I'm in. I also post here on the forums, Tumblr, and Twitter. After that, I don't really advertise my content until my next video comes out.

ohhhh that's a great question and I saw interesting answers! :D

Like some of you I do not promote any of my videos, I only share them with my friends like "heeey I made a new song". But when I upload a video it send a message on my twitter so random people watch my stuff sometimes lol

But actualy I never ask people to watch my content, I think they can found it by themselves if they want to (well I guess lol)
