Google images

I've just been told by someone that getting images of Google isn't copyright but I am always thought they are. Are they actually copyright or is this other person right, also do you take images of Google and use them or display them?

I use a lot of Google images in my videos and thumbnails, I've never had a copyright problem with it.
Ok interesting, when I look at them they all say this may be subject to copyright. If I could get images of google then it would make things a lot more easier.

This is a bit of a grey area, as you can't use images from google for commercial use.
Which means if you are making money from images, the creator of the image should get a cut.

This being said, only the original owner of the images can bring a copyright case against you for using it without permission and the likelihood of them doing this is slim.

If you are using image from a specific photographer or artist then I would credit them to be on the safe side but general photos of stuff off of google should be fine.

Ok thanks so just to be completely clear, I could make a profile picture, channel banner or lots of thumbnails from the images of google? And of course I will be editing them first.

Thumbnails, probably will be ok.

I wouldn't use them for personal branding, like channel art. Look for design resources that are free for personal use or have no copyright attached to them. Have a search on pinterest for "Copyright free"

Same here, I like to find a neat or cool looking photo for specific games (related to what its about) and just add in some words with fonts alongside. I never got a copyright from it, unless its deviantart then be sure to give credit in decription.

You actually have to option when you search images on google to search specific for images that have no copyright claim on them so you can safely use them. (It it the same place where you can select a search for small or large picture's)
Ok I haven't ever seen it, i'll have a look, thanks for the reply.

As far as I know it is still copyright, but image creators generally don't go after YouTuber creators. I've heard of game creators losing a large proportion of their profit over using images from google that were not under the public domain. So something you should probably be careful of...
