I'm hoping to buy a game capture device quite soon but I was wondering should I get the elgato hd or elgato hd60 the newer version?

I use the original one. The only difference in the quality is the frame rate. You'll also need a video editor that can render 60fps videos if you get the hd60. The original one works great and is the cheapest one obviously lol

Ok thanks, I think I will get the original one, I don't think I really need to get the hd60.

How good is it compared to the Elgato ones? What makes Elgato ones so popular?

It depends on what kind of content you want to make and what your computer can handle. If it can handle recording at 60fps as well as rendering then go for the HD60 but if it can't then go for the HD

Well i don't know why elgato is so popular, but the footage that has been recorded with the avermedia capture card is actually the same quality imo :)
Ok i'll probably get the avermedia one then, thanks for showing me.
