Okay... I don't even know how this happened, but I guess my viewers really liked this tutorial I made on how to connect a Nintendo Wii U Controller to a PC (link at the bottom). This video alone has over 20k views. Where'd these people come from??
Honestly it was completely unexpected. This video is quite literally the reason why I am here, trying to grow my own gaming/tech community.
Here's a little bit of wisdom for anyone who makes tutorials but doesn't feel like they get enough views:
Find out what people want to watch, and upload them at the right time.
I was pretty lucky actually, I posted this video during the summer, when everyone's playing video games and chilling. I added a ton of tags, posted the video on reddit and some other forums, and got 1k views within a week or two!
The video just stood there at 1k views for about, say, 2 months? And just about a month ago the video instantly SKY ROCKETED from out of no where. Reason? Tags, and the fact that my video was well done and clean cut (if I do say so myself) compared to the other tutorials (explaining the same exact thing) out there.
I made a tutorial of the same process I took to get my controller working for me.
Apparently, the path I took was different from the other videos, and therefore I got more people sharing my video. DO YOUR OWN THING!
But seriously, if you have the time, check out that video. It doesn't even have a thumbnail, it has poor audio/video quality, and really just overall not nearly on par with the polished tutorials you'll find elsewhere.
But it still got views. A ton of them. (At the time of posting the video, I only had 30 Subscribers)
Video content is the most important thing in any YouTube video. Nothing else; in my experience, at least!
Thanks for reading! Let me know what you think!
