I personally use canva.com. It's a quick, easy to use website that allows you to piece resources together into a nice, neat thumbnail or any one of a number of other templates they have. There is some pay content, but most of it is free.

Personally, I try to upload once a day. Sometimes it doesn't happen (I have pretty bad upload speeds) and when that happens, I feel like I've failed my audience. At my very worst, I was at once a week, and I don't want to ever get like that ever again.
