Where you afraid?

I'm just curious what where you afraid of before starting your Youtube channel? How did it play out for you?

I get allot of messages on twitter from people who would love to have their own channel but don't dare for a variaty of reasons. I was scared at first too.... mainly for reactions from my family or being a total noob and my channel would be brought down by haters or something.

But it all played out quite wel.... until now:p My channel is doing okay and my fam and friends accept and support my channel in their way, so I think that all I was scared of was mainly in my head (facepalm).

Honestly, my Mom terrified me from putting personal information to get paid from YouTube. So, for many years of uploading, didn't get paid. But when I got recruited to Freedom!, got my personal information to YouTube and actually got paid. Sucks that I didn't do it when I started but oh well.

Oh yeah that sucks for sure! o_O But your mom probably only wanted you so be safe and to be honest there are allot of scams out there. Parents are a lot more on their tippy toes when it comes to the internet and business :p I still remember my mom who did not believe any online retailer prices and kept buying similar stuff for double the price in an actual store.... But my mom also kept clicking the you won *insert amount* ads (facepalm)

I was always scared of people judging me. I'm a super self-critical person as it is, and I was always insecure about what other people have thought about me. I went ahead and just uploaded a video one day after I had convinced myself that anyone who has something bad to say doesn't matter to me, and I will most likely never meet them in real life. I still haven't told any of my family members or close friends because I am afraid they are going to judge me. Eventually I will tell them, I think I just need to get bigger first, so I can prove to them that it is something that matters to me.

In the beginning, no matter how much research I did, I would still have a voice in the back of my head going what if the information I'm giving out in any one of my tutorials happens to be wrong. But over time that fear died down.

I thought it would get easier as I do it... but Im an introvert... I dont know if Ill ever be comfortable talking... Im most comfortable being alone...

That is so typical! I hear so many youtuber say that and it really intrigues me! I'm reading a book from Shane Dawson and also he's saying in this book multiple times how much of an introvert he is and actually loves peace and quite :p Lol he's one of the loudest Youtubers next to Guy Thang that I know!

Yeah I had that same feeling first of scared for judgement and second from online community reactions. I started sharing around my 100 subbie and luckily I had only good or not interested reactions, never any very bad ones! :D

Well since I was wanting to play games I guess I was probably most concerned about people spoiling blind games for me as I my channel grew. I figure as a smaller channel just starting out it wouldn't be anything to worry about but as things progress you can't always guarantee that.

Thankfully even today I still have yet to run into one of those people that will spoil things about a game I've never played before.

Wow that is very lucky indeed! I always stumble upon spoilers about series and even when it's an accident I can't keep myself from watching it although I don't like them at all >< !

To be fair it was still in the stages where people rick rolled each other and the dreamcaster theme was in every gta san video... back when RayWilliamJohnnson was good dare I say.

I know what you mean though. Things are a lot simpler when your too young to realise what your doing is embarrassing XD I something wonder if I'll look back in five years and think what I'm doing now is embarrasing.

Nah, I just started making videos for myself and my friends. I'm not really a person who cares about public opinion so I didn't really give a rats ass when I started.
