(it is like here in the netherlands, and i've no idea how it is in your country. all prices are in euro's)

so, i just saw an video, which made me think:

so, like 7 years ago, i bought my myself a lot of (just released, big-title) games for the price of like €40
AND THEN YOU HAD A FULL GAME!!!!! with no extra DLCS or stuff like that

and look at we need to pay now for and just released, big title game
it's here between a price of €60 and €70
(and actually to infinity €) because of DLCS and in-game money we buy sometimes

WELL, let's make a total calculation, for playing a (just released, big-title) IN THE PAST
first you need the console (€300)
and then you need the game (€40)
and that was it so far i can remember
300+40= €340

WELL, let's make a total calculation, for playing a (just released, big-title) online game THESE TIMES
so first we need the console (€400)
then we need the game (€60)
then we need to pay to play online (€50 every year)
then you bought a season pass (€20) because you saw some nice cars in it
and then you pay and extra price, because it was a bit of a scam. because you also still have to buy that car also for an unbelievable high IN-GAME price (i set a extra €40 for that)

SO, 400+60+50+20+40= 570

well, uhm.... welcome to the modern world???

If DLC is literally an add-on rather a crop-out of the main game and it's not a game I care to much about I will just not buy it.

As for buying stuff in-game (GTA $$$ etc), I'm completely against it. If you buy it then you buy it. It's completely optional but yeah, it costs more nowadays.

yeah, you are right about that.
but it's such a pity, that the keep trying it. and always try to give THEIR game and DLCS a better reputation, the the game actually really has

yeah, me too, i never bought something like in-game money. because it's like spending €40 all for nothing
because it's is gone so quick

Well, the prices are higher today than 20 years ago duo economic working like that, so such math doesn't work if you aren't recount the value to today.

And I dont really mind DLCs, as long the game I buy is full functional and as it should be. Usually if they add extra content I consider worth it I will get it. That is something different compare to older games; they can still work on them and make more content to them unlike before. And buying things in the game is (and if not should be though pay to win exist sadly) optional. You aren't forced to do that.

Also today you have online option to play. Back in the old days you were a gang of hoodlums sitting in a small room taking turns playing super mario. You have way easier to play with your friends and other people. : )

Not to be like that, but your math seems a bit off and very bias. Surely its a bit more expensive, but not that much imo. : )

People definitely pay a lot more for games now. When they have paid downloadable content, it can stack up tremendously. That's why I'm glad where I can focus on a single game for a while. It can take a lot of effort to buy all new new games out there often.
