I used to have an old channel where it was full of dead subs, (which means subs that don't stay active) the thing with me is I dont really mind if i have like 5 subscribers or 2 subscribers, what matters to me is if the subscribers actually genuinely like my content or were forced to subscribe as like a friend thing etc. I am also posting this as message to everyone, it doesn't matter how much subs you have as long as the people subscribed genuinely like your content

Dead subs, and people that sub4sub inflate it a ton. I rather have subscribers turned off personally, because I get more motivated seeing people commenting, or viewing the actual video.

Whilst I dislike having dead subs, I wouldn't say I hate it completely because its a sign of support at the end of the day.

Yeah, all my subs are dead. I still get views for time to time, though; the best way I find is to upload a video similar to that where you get tons of views. For example, I have a video called minecraft survival games where I met Ssundee, a youtuber, and then made another survival games and I got a fair amount of my subs to watch it. The only reason that you can have dead subs is if they stop using youtube, don't check subscriptions, or are waiting on a video that is a followup to a past video. hope this helped.

The way I avoided "dead subs" is by not doing any sub for sub or crap like that, than all your viewers will only subscribe because they like your videos

Dead subs can be sub4sub people, however they can also be burnt out subscribers. Essentialy, they watch two vids, like them and sub, then your videos pop up in their feed and they watch a few vids every now and then. Lets say they miss a few of your vids, youtube noticies this and thinks 'oh this guy doesnt like this guy's content any more, we'll just stop showing him it then' and just like that, all your videos are no longer advertised to that subscriber, and eventually they forget about your content, and that is how quite alot subs become one of the 'dead subs'. (or so i've heard)
