I recently got partnered with Freedom! i had to stop youtube due to health issues but im back and can "start" my channel again.

This time i want to do it right but i need some help/suggestions.

How often should i upload videos? 2-3 times a week?

Video length on average? (Gaming commentary)

and is 720p/30 Good enough to start a channel?

A big concern is when i see channels that get eg. 45k views on most videos then they upload a video by them self and get next to none.

Can collabs be a bad thing? Do they take away from your content when you are not doing them?

Also Is my name a decent name for youtube, Will it be easy to share with friends and family is it catchy?

Way too hard for me to tell myself because i'm super bias.

At the same time i don't want to get stuck at x amount of subs because my name is not catchy easy to spread the word about my channel

Well I think if you can and have the time to make and upload 2-3 times a week is good to start of with.

Average length to start with from what I have been told is 15 to 30 minutes. I keep getting flack for my 3 hour stream I transfered over from twitch to YouTube.

720p 30fps is fine, there will be some that say it's not but it is fine for starting out. The collabs are a good thing. The youtube audiences can be very....discerning. if a video dose not have what they been expecting then the view will drop. Doing collab will help you get seen to more audiences, witch can lead to more subs and more views.

xNightHowl the only part I would say will get to people is the x at the front of your youtube name. I like the NightHowl of your name but that is just me. Oh and welcome to the Freedom Family.

A catchy name is the last thing to be concerned about. It could be named poop stain and still grow if the content is there. Look at ksiolejidebt. Hes got 11mil subs with one of the worst names I've ever seen. Hes since abreviated it to KSI.

Upload when you can, as long as the quality isnt compromised. Make an upload schedule you can stick to, then increase if you feel you can.

Collabs are up to you, but in my opinion they do very little unless you already have a large audience.

I'm really new to this while thing myself but here is my take on it.

I think uploading frequency is important, I think uploading on a schedule is better if you are doing gaming commentary. Speaking for myself, the channels I look at often I do so because they have content that is, a vast majority of the time, at the same time each day. It's predictable. That is my goal, I'm hoping to get things where I post a video at 6:00 am and another at 6pm. Once I get that going I'll add a noon video. That's my plan.

Most gaming videos I watch, and the ones I am trying to do, I keep as close to 30 mins +/- as possible. That appears to be the norm and a good length to not take a ton of viewer time. It is also the time it usually take me to drive into and home from work, and I listen to videos as much as watch them. I'd shoot for that.

As long as your videos are smooth, I'm not sure how important this is as long as they are not blurry and have skips. I am recording 1080p @ 60 frames.

I am not sure how important the name is as long as it is not something that is just outrageous. I don't sub and watch folks based on name as much as their content and delivery. The name I'm using, Emicarn, is an old role playing game character from my days playing D&D boxed sets. It is familiar to me, something I can identify with, and I think that is more important. Once I learn some better photoshop skills or find someone who is willing to do volunteer their talent, I'll have a look that matches it across twitter, youtube, eventually twitch, and so on. Strive for that so you have a uniform look and feel, more important I think.

It doesn't matter how much you upload a week... I would just say at least once a week but consistency is key so do what you can uphold.
For the video length I kinda discovered that video's over 10 minutes where becoming ignored so I stay under that number if I can.

Collabing I think is a difficult thing, I get questioned for it from time to time but it mostly benefits the other party because they have +- 0 subscribers or not an active following. I'm holding off because I rather do it with someone who deserves it by being a local active participant with my channel or if it also benefit me in them having a relatable audience.

720p/30 is oke although I rather have 1080 because I want to film details in hd.
For the name xNighthowl -> if you feel comfortable it's your name period!
