Hey guys,
I'm looking at some things to buy with my birthday money and I want your opinions...
Should I buy either an iMac G3, £80 worth of hardware for my setup or 2 spares/repairs computers for £5?
Please leave your opinions down below!
In all honesty, I think that you should stay away from old IMac's and spare repair computers.. unless you know how to fix them, including soldering components together..
But in all, it may be possible for you to buy an old dell computer off of ebay, for like $80 with a decent Intel core 2 duo or a Intel core 2 quad, and all you'd have to do is up the ram, and put in a new PSU and Video card, and you could have a decent gaming rig for about $600 depending on the video card(I'm calculating it with having a GTX 980 in it)
Here is a rig I found on ebay that you could take a look at, it has support for a big video card(Dual or Triple fans)

Quote from Seller as to why it's listed as For part's or Repair -
Tested for Key Functions, R2/Ready for Resale. Unit Passes POST (Power on Self Test) & memtest on ram. Units are sold as used equipment for parts or repair due to No Operating System, as units require an Operating system to be considered as "full functional".
Now to fix up this rig, just buy a new
Hard drive($20-$60 depending on the size, HGST, or Western Digital for Reliability
SSD($65)(Optional) Samsung for Reliability and Performance
Ram($20-40) for 8GB of Ram(Max) G Skill or Corsair
Power Supply($75) Corsair, Cooler Master, EVGA, anything that's Gold + or Silver + Certified
Video Card($100-$650) EVGA, Asus, MSI, Sapphire Tech, XFX, Gigabyte(Maybe) Any will work from these brands.
General Price - $381.49 without SSD, and a Low Budget 1080P Gaming Video Card(GTX 950), Max Ram, and a Decent Hard drive.
Overall It's a decent rig, but don't expect to be doing triple monitor gaming any time soon, unless it's on very easy to run games.
If you need help configuring the rig, let me know, I'll be glad to help you build it.
Best Of Luck!
