Review for Alienation (2016) which is a twin stick shooter developed by House Marque and is set in the distant future as planet Earth lies in ruins after an alien invasion. Mankind is fighting back with elite soldiers armed with the latest exo-skeleton suits and advanced weaponry.

While the story is told through sporadic radio chats and pre-mission briefings it’s not really the plot that’s important. Instead it’s the action, and it’s in this regard that HouseMarque delivers in full. Set in beautiful locations across the globe, from icy wastelands to the remains of an overgrown Chernobyl, Alienation (2016) provides large and varied maps with plenty of side missions to keep you entertained - from assassinating bosses to defeating large hordes of enemies.

What makes Alienation (2016) even better is that it comes with the ability to play through the 20 level campaign in single player, multiplayer online, and local co-op with a split screen partner. While character customisation is lacking Alienation (2016) does provide three classes to choose from, each with their individual skills for example -
The Saboteur utilises invisibility
The Tank has higher armour and tends favour high capacity weapons
The Bio-Specialist utilises healing

While it doesn’t make any difference to the story the repetitive collection of dropped guns - which all look and feel rather similar - was a little disappointing. With that being said each weapon does come with their own stats and rarity level, which can be modified using scavenged materials to make your guns more personal. All in all HouseMarque have created a wonderful twin stick shooter that I definitely recommend that you play.
