Ever since the announcement of Mortal Online 2 by CEO Henrik Nystrom on 12th February 2019, there appears to have been an apparent steady decline in player population, leading some to call the game “dead”. While all out-of-game sources appear to echo the same sentiment, what I saw when I logged into the game on 1st March was a very different scene.
This much is certain: No one except Star Vault AB would know the actual concurrent player count at any particular point in time, and the game itself does not require Steam to run in the background in order to play like many other games do. This means Steam won’t add a player to the Steam chart numbers if they start the game directly via its executable file.
