Recording i find obs is good obs studio is quite good for doing recording and streaming also.
Audacity i find is good for if your doing local recording for recording your microphone as your able to edit any sounds like background noise or amp the volume if quiet.
Voice meter is also another good free program i use for allowing you to control audio sources you do or do not want in your recordings or stream.
Depends on your personal preference and what you want to do.
I use OBS (Open Broadcast Software) for screen recording, Audacity for voice recording and Lightworks for video editing. OBS and Audacity are free. Lightworks has a free version. You can find a list of features with a comparison to the Pro version on their site.
