If you use YouTube streaming, some of your subs will follow. Twitch streams will get some attention too, from a different community that will eventually help out and sub to your youtube, but it will take much longer. I don't know personally, because I don't stream. However, I know some people like OMGItsFirefoxx started out streaming with virtually no one showing up, and just grew over time. I don't see you (or any new streamers) getting hundreds of viewers without it taking some time and effort (Not to mention consistency). If you enjoy streaming, do it, even if it is only for 1 person other than yourself.

As for when you should stream, I would say to check your YouTube analytics, and see where most of your viewers come from, then do it around 5pm their time. Most should be home from school (if they are younger) and/or work, and are just entering that relaxing phase of getting home. Much more likely to tune in then.
