Singularity
Singularity is a video game developed by Raven Software and published by Activision and released for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. Singularity is Raven Software's third title based on Epic Games' Unreal Engine 3. The title was announced at Activision's E3 2008 press conference.
Singularity is a first-person shooter with survival-horror elements. A main gameplay device is an artifact known as the Time Manipulation Device (TMD). The TMD is powered by an E-99 core, and can manipulate time. The TMD can move an object backwards or forwards in time, attract something and hold it indefinitely, or send a pulse of energy that can stun or kill enemies. The TMD can only affect living beings or objects that have been in contact with E-99 (supposedly, almost everything on Katorga-12 is imbued with the element, but in practice, the TMD can only affect a limited set of objects). Some living beings, like the Spetsnaz troops who are covered in heavy armor designed to repel E-99, are immune as well.
Best way of comparing this game is to Bioshock as it has alot of similar themes and gameplay elements but its much more simple with a great story and gameplay.
Any obstacles are sometimes too easy to figure out and the game is maybe a bit too simple but still very fun. I wont mention the story in case of any spoilers but it can be confusing but is really intresting and mostly well thought out. Upgrades are maybe a bit too simple to the point where I feel like there is massive room of improvement, you can only have 1 "perk" equipt which you buy using "E99 tech" as currency though you can use 2 later on ....but in all honestly alot of the perks are mostly useless, With weapon upgrades I can say the same too as all the weapons have the same minor damage, reload speed and magazine capacity upgrades that I tend to forget its even in the game. Lastly, there are a fair amount of weapons in the game....but again it feels like everything except shotgun + assault rifle is useless or at least a dowgrade but they can be fun to try out or mess around with.
Minor picky ranting aside its an amazing FPS with very satisfying combat that I highly recommend getting, I wish I found it sooner!
