Tips & Tricks Recording Audio?

Hello! This is Colby. I'm about to start up my YouTube channel Cinefilm Studios soon, and I'm preparing all the knowledge and equipment (under extreme budget) for filming some "Cineflix"!

Quick question about recording audio (kinda targeted towards professional filmmakers),

I have a Samson Meteor Mic. I'd really like to get a filter (hopefully a deadcat) so the sound quality will sound better, as well as block annoying wind. I'm asking for 2 options:

1) What's the cheapest price I can get for a deadcat?

or

2) How can I make a decent homemade deadcat?

Keep in mind - I have a Samson Meteor Mic. Look it up so you get an idea.

Even though I'm not really an expert at this stuff, a good way to cancel noise is pretty relative. It really depends on what you'll do. Most Gaming YouTubers or YouTubers at home for example just maybe need some noise cancelling foam or some pillows while talking into the mic while when being outside you need to compensate for wind too. I've heard from a few people that using a sock helps some severe wind a bit though I don't have much experience there. Generally though putting any textile stuff around it helps. Small improvements can still be made through noise cancelling software like Audacity afterwards.

@LW001 Thanks for the info! Someone told me about wrapping a tshirt around my mic to work as a filter, and it works perfectly! I definitely use Audacity not just for improving audio, but also recording it in real-time along with my productions!
