A small group of my friends and I are currently developing an Open World FPS game. The game is in very very early Alpha development of course but we have been really working hard on startup coding and player UI. Once we have a stable Alpha version that is playable, we will be taking on some testers who wish to check it out.

Story/ Info:
You are a United States citizen (you design your character) on a flight back home in Chicago, when all of the sudden the entire city below you goes dark and the plane loses power, the screen goes dark. You wake up a bloody mess, strapped into your plane seat and the plane has crashed on a Chicago highway. You have no idea whats going on, all you know is that there are little to no survivors on board with you... or at least you think.

That is what we have so far.

Wow, that sounds pretty interesting. I think think the open world FPS idea is great! The story sounds interesting. I think it could use a bit of work but it's a great start! I'd love to be a tester when the alpha is available!

I've been working on games on my "free" time in the past. The idea itself can be good but you must really think it through. Creating open world is probably one of the things I'd scrap right away and make it just a large world with as many possible points to enter, take over from barn to mall.

I just don't want to even mention how expensive the server you'd need to populate the world would be.

Going smaller = going cheaper = saving money. Don't get lost creating just a massive empty map. Keep focusing on playability and work up from there.

We did consider the cost of a game like it and after a lot of talk, one of my friends families own like stock in big companies and has money haha, they are willing to invest a nice sized fund into the game with of course payment back and stuff.
