Lack of good horror games where you are the monster

This is something that just really, really disappoints me. We have all of these wonderful and fun to play games, doesn't matter what genre, but in the slowly-but-surely reviving horror genre, there is really only games from one perspective -the victim. Yes, I know there is games that have you very clearly as a bad guy, but you are being targeted or targeting other bad guys. Could you imagine playing a game like Penumbra or Amnesia where you play the monster? Okay, so the concept seems a little twisted, but it's better than this same overused "there has been an anomaly here, and you must survive and find your way out" storyline that is pretty much it with the exception of the psychological horror games, which are a totally different kind of scare-your-pants-off experience that stays with you.

If any of you guys know of a game where you are the monster, not just some desensitized psychopath or sociopath serial killer please let me know, I would love to play a horror game that isn't this same cliche of a perspective. Thanks!

The only games i ever played where you were able to be the monster is Left for Dead, Dying Light and Evolve but they aren't really a horror game.

Somewhere it could indeed be a fun idea to play a horror game from the other side, curious how that would work out. There are coming a couple good horror games this year

Like @TwilightPrinze said, Dying Light is a game where you can play as a Zombie I believe. Of course there is always the old Alien vs. Predator games where you can play as a Colonial Marine, an Alien, or the Predator. I can't think of anymore titles to add at the moment.

Like @TwilightPrinze said, Dying Light is a game where you can play as a Zombie I believe. Of course there is always the old Alien vs. Predator games where you can play as a Colonial Marine, an Alien, or the Predator. I can't think of anymore titles to add at the moment.

Because that is a terrifying game..

If I had the equipment for it and someone to help with the graphics I would be all over it like a police dog on a fugitive.

I might have to give Dying light a try then... I know there is a few of multiplayer ones where you can be one of two or three roles, but they lose all their players when a new game comes out for the most part.
