Issue Regarding Automatic Monetization and Risk of Strikes

(I don't think the questions/issues are stupid ones, but they are a very big concern for my channel. [may also be for other people too] I also apologize for the length, but the beginning is a brief description of what all has been going on since I joined Freedom. The questions are at the bottom.)

I recently partnered with Freedom (it is the first I have ever partnered with a network). Prior to joining Freedom, I had my setting for my channel set to where I had to manually select the videos I wanted to be monetized. I've had that same setup for over a year (as the channel has been up for over a year). Right before I finally partnered with Freedom, I removed all the monetizations on my videos (to cause no possible conflicts, and to start with a clean slate with monetizing.) After joining Freedom, I decided to upload a video. The next morning, when I went to check on it's status, I noticed the video was monetized. As I said before, none of my videos were monetized when joining Freedom, and my settings were set so I had to manually monetize them (rather than having them automatically monetize every time I upload. Other people with channels will understand why I set it up like this.)

So I sent a message via email to someone at Freedom. They stated the following: "That should be set in your upload settings. Nothing should be changed when you are with Freedom so if you didn't have it set to automatic before, it should still stay they same. I hope this cleared things up:)" I spent an hour trying to figure out for sure if my settings were changed, and nothing seemed different. Before I called it quits, I monetized 11 videos. Forward fast a day, (which would be about an hour ago) and I upload a second video. Before I published it, I went to the settings for monetizing the video and found that not only was it automatically set for monetizing, there was no way to disable it for the video. I checked the other 11 videos I had monetized from the day before, and the same thing occured; I could not disable the monetizing on those videos. I sent an email back to the person I had been communicating with, and current have no respond to it (but more than likely will later today.)

Here is the main issue with all of this going on. I originally set it up so I could control what was monetized for the sole purpose of claims (not strikes, claims). If for some reason I posted a video and it had a claim on it, I would just not monetize the video and that was it. Now, with my videos not only being automatically monetized, but also with no way to turn off the automatic setup or disable it before uploading, there is a threat of getting strikes on videos rather than getting claims. I'm pretty sure I am not the only person worried about strikes on channels; too many strikes can mean losing the channel completely.

The questions I have are:

1. Is anyone else noticing the same thing too, in regards to videos being automatically monetized?
2. Does anyone know if Freedom will automatically disable the montization of single video if they discover there is a claim against it?
3. If #2 is 'No', does that mean Freedom just forces a strike against the channel/video without changing anything to prevent it from happening?

Again, I apologize for the length of the post. Some feedback would be nice, as it could affect whether or not choosing the Freedom! network was in fact the right choice for me to make.

Nevermind, I myself found a solution. Even though the videos continue to automatically monetize, you can upload and still hold off monetizing a video by selecting "Track in all countries" instead of "Monetize in all countries."

Might be useful for anyone with a similar concern. Sorry for wasting space in a forum. (but it doesn't seem like it got noticed anyways)

As far as I know Freedom wont automatically monetize a video that has 3rd party content so you wont receive a strike. If it does have copyrighted content the original owner can monetize that video though (that's the same if you monetize it or not).

Can you change your upload defaults? https://www.youtube.com/upload_defaults

Generally having ads on videos will increase the views as youtube prioritizes videos that are monetized in search/suggested (youtube gets 40% of your ad revenue so they prefer monetized videos being shown).

I have heard both sides from Freedom staff that all channels have to be set to automatically monetize and also others that have said that is only for specific CMS. I'll see if I can find out a definitive answer.
