I decided today that in my spare time it would be fine for me to adjust my overclocks to better suit the wants I am to get out of my i7-4790K chip. Here's the story.

This morning I hop out of bed and the third thing I do is decide to adjust my overclocks. For the past month and a bit I've been running a stable 4.5GHz overclock on my 4790K chip and H100i liquid cooler with temps going near 80 on load. After watching JayzTwoCents and LinusTechTips to help out with what I wanted to do, I figured I would dilly-dally with the voltages a little to see what my chip is capable of.

I hop into the bios and notice that the voltage is set to a hell of a whack 1.42 VOLTS! This would be a death sentence for the $500 processor if it was on air. Liquid cooling gets another plus from me. I drop the voltage down the considerably safer 1.3V and run Prime95 for 10 minutes to ensure stability. Stable it was, and at the same time knocking 15C off of the maximum temperature comparing to the voltage setting mentioned earlier.

Moving along I decided to bump it up to 4.7GHz and see what kind of temperatures I would get. I tried going to 4.8GHz on this voltage but ended up setting a blue screen. Dialing it back to 4.7GHz, I now have it sitting comfortably at 1.29V and plan on dropping it further to see where my minimum stable voltage is.

More to come.[DOUBLEPOST=1445827703][/DOUBLEPOST]Update: It is now sitting with a 4.7Ghz overclock at 1.265V stable.
