Brain of Things believes automated homes might make more sense than automated cars in the long run. After all we spend a majority of our free time in our homes. In California Brain of Things are creating 3 Robotic houses. Each home has 20 sensors, and almost everything's automated. (there are still switches to control things). The robot houses also come with voice commands or use the homes app.
Brain of Things have a few working robot apartments in Santa Rosa, California. System costs $125 per month on top of basic tenant rent.
