"The company applied for a patent for a “smart-ring” design last year which was published by the US Patent and Trademark Office this week.

The patent describes a device that can be used to control the a TV, or perhaps to turn on the central heating, without the user having to move from the sofa."

And yes, I have a pretty legit source: http://www.msn.com/en-ae/money/tech...in-remote-controls/ar-AAf51N0?ocid=spartandhp

What are your thoughts on this? :0

engagement rings will have to step up their game XD Also sounds interesting, but tbh a bit excessive IMO.

Smart watches and smartphones already have this functionality, while I think a smart ring will be really cool, it sounds too ambitious with what kind of technology we have today.

The ring would have to be pretty bulky in order to operate effectively, smart watches are made usable by pairing it with a smartphone which does most the processing. Even then, the smart watches themselves struggle to size down bezels and physical dimensions as they have to include a long lasting battery, chips, and a bunch of electronics. It sounds really difficult to cram all this into a ring.

It's not impossible, I've seen startups on crowd-funding sites promise these sort of things but they look pretty big for a ring to wear comfortably and the screens aren't very impressive.

However, the post does say that the concept is still on the drawing board and we know Apple likes to release premium products so I'd be excited to see what kind of smart ring Apple can offer in the next few years. If they can pull this off then I'd be amazed! :)

I think it is unnecesary, I mean..it is good that some devices can do certain things easy for us, but this is going too far. First, a pen for apple...then another kind of watch...now a ring?..¿What comes next?...an smart t-shirt?...We need to stop this...we don´t need that tecnology control the human.
