[Reminder: These are in no particular order]
Number 4 is administering fake views and/or subscribers.
Not only does YouTube have safeguards in place that remove these things, it is a great sign that you are too desperate for success that you’ll essentially lie about your channel’s popularity to try to get more real views.
Let me be honest. I did this on one of my old channels, and boy did it completely wreck my enthusiasm about owning a channel. It went from “YAY 1000 in a day” to “awh ****, no views today” the very next day.
Number 3 is uploading content that is not yours without permission.
I’m look at you, “reactioners”. All it takes is one salty YouTuber and your channel is history.
Some people reupload trailers for games. While technically under fair use as long as you don’t monetize it, if you try to monetize it the odds are your entire channel will be shut down with no chance of recovering all of what I assume was work.
I had a friend, 300-and-something subscribers, have his channel terminated because he reuploaded the trailer for Mortal Kombat X. 300 subscribers over 4 months of consistent work, and all of it was gone, never to be seen again.
Number 2 is spamming your channel.
If you go onto a random forum and start to boast “check out my channel”, it’s a good way to prove that you are not worthy of becoming the big guy. If you are desperate to get big, that means all you care for is the money & fame and your real viewers and those on those forums will notice it right way.
I usually advocate against using these forums, unless you are marketing towards other YouTubers, since your prime audience, other YouTubers, will be on those forums. You won’t find a massive group of say, garden growers, on forums dedicated to YouTubers. But be careful not to go overboard. Posting more than one video will get your ass a bad name in whatever community you’re trying to advertise in, sometimes even an outright ban from it.
Number 1 and final is Favor4Favor.
Favor4Favor falls under many things. View4View, like4like, Sub4Sub. All of which are not organic and do nothing to better your channel if they aren't harming it.
What is the point of a view if it came from someone who wanted a view back? What is the point of a like if it was the same way, or a subscriber for that matter? Each of the people that want to do one of these cares only about their own content and will never come back to view yours. You want people to come back to eventually generate a fanbase, this is not the way to do it.
I did this, on another old channel. Do you know how disheartening it is to have more than 100 subscribers and not even get a single view on your latest upload. It’s ridiculous, so don’t do it.
