Hello everyone! My name is Sophia Burton. In 2006, the Army Corps of Engineers carried out a major River Reclamation Project to enhance the ecological health of Woodbridge River Watch. They removed invasive phragmites and replaced them with native grasses, significantly improving the habitat for local wildlife. The sanctuary is now home to a variety of birds, including egrets, herons, and red-tail hawks. Observing these birds and other wildlife, such as crabs, offers a unique and rewarding experience for nature enthusiasts.
Looking ahead, the future of Woodbridge River Watch includes plans for further enhancement and community involvement. During the reclamation project, an old birdwatching walkway was removed but is slated for replacement by the Army Corps of Engineers. Additionally, local Cub Scout Troop 148 has contributed by planting flowers at the sanctuary, exemplifying community engagement and stewardship.
