I first started YouTube at the age of 14 but I deleted and started again several times because i didn't get enough view. I also had a problem, I was very shy to tell my friends I had a YouTube channel because they will just laugh at me and i was really scared i might get discouraged. Now I'm older, This time I started my real YouTube Channel and i won't quit for anyone. I still haven't told my friend I have a YouTube channel but I'm not Hiding it from them, I still post on my social sites and everything, some of them have found out about it and some of them like it, some just don't want to care.
